“SPECIAL ARRANGEMENTS 2009”
A TREMENDOUS SUCCESS
On October 20 the Fundraising Committee for Looper presented”Special Arrangements 2009: Fun Festive Fabulous Flowers.” Our second annual floral design luncheon and marketplace succeeded in nearly doubling proceeds from 2008. Profit from sponsor donations, ticket sales, raffle and silent auction and Marketplace sales totaled $7000.
The concept behind our Special Arrangements fundraiser is to present a unique lifestyle event, normally offered only in cities larger than ours. Through this event we give back to the community, enhancing life for many in our area. Similarly, Looper Speech and Hearing
Center, through its efforts to improve communication needs of patients of all ages, enhances lives in remarkable ways.
This year one hundred-eighty guests enjoyed a delicious fall luncheon in the ballroom at The Farm, followed by a presentation by the exceptionally talented Buff Adams of Memphis.
Buff wowed our guests with her beautiful and clever flower arrangements, using flowers purchased from florists and local grocers, home-grown flowers and an assortment of garden greenery.
Buff’s designs are user-friendly and equipped us with a ready supply of quick and original floral inspirations.
For the second year the Marketplace had unique appeal for our guests. Items offered included one-of-a-kind gifts, vintage accessories and furniture, beautiful live orchids and topiaries, original art, estate silver and an assortment of dried plant materials. The Marketplace, with its inviting look, drew guests in for a festive shopping experience.
This year’s event featured the talent of two local artists. Amy Kinard Cole’s whimsical flower design became the logo for the event and
inspired our Marketplace setting. Our talented friend, Jane Clayton, contributed an original botanical watercolor for our silent auction. Note cards featuring her art were sold as well.
Plans for Special Arrangements 2010 are underway. Another highly qualified speaker is coming to Dalton for a not-to-be-missed program, scheduled for late October. All guests attending this year’s luncheon are placed automatically on our mailing list for next year’s event. Tickets will be available in early fall.
